Ukrainians and Russians entered Istanbul's Çırağan Palace today, together with high-ranking Turkish officials, for the second round of direct peace negotiations in three years of war.

The Russian delegation, led by Vladimir Medinsky, arrived around 11:40, and the Ukrainian delegation seven minutes later. The negotiations began at noon, and the duration of the talks was not determined in advance.
In the Çırağan Palace in Istanbul, where the second round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine will be held today, security officers checked for the possible presence of an explosive device or a bomb, RIA Novosti reported.
The check was carried out with the help of sniffer dogs, and ramps were placed at the entrance to the residence where those entering were carefully checked. After a thorough security check, journalists were allowed to enter the area intended for negotiations in the palace. Assistant to the Russian President, Vladimir Medinsky, arrived in Istanbul last night and he is leading the Russian delegation in the new round of talks with Ukraine.

Kyiv will propose a draft peace settlement, whose demands are similar to the conditions previously presented, Reuters reported. The Russian delegation received the Ukrainian draft memorandum on a potential cease-fire, Vladimir Medinsky, assistant to Russian President Vladimir Putin and chief negotiator of the Russian delegation at the upcoming talks in Istanbul, said last night.
Ukraine insists on the absence of restrictions on the armament of the Ukrainian armed forces, the absence of international recognition of the new regions annexed by Russia, and demands the payment of reparations. In addition to Medinsky, the Russian delegation will include, as in the first round of negotiations: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Galuzin, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov and Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Fomin.
The Ukrainian delegation will again be led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. The first meeting of representatives of Russia and Ukraine in the last three years was held on May 16 in Istanbul. The parties agreed to carry out a large exchange of prisoners - 1,000 for 1,000, which was carried out from 23 to 25 May, as well as to present proposals for a future truce.
